Academic Yoga in Healthcare
This 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training program is designed for yogis who have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training or equivalent and would like to go a step further and become an advanced yoga instructor and learn about the applications of yoga for therapeutic purposes.
This program includes the first 300 hours of the 800-hour yoga therapy program. Graduates of this program can register with Yoga Alliance to obtain the RYT-500 credential and can apply to the 500-hour Clinical Yoga Therapy program.
Pre-requisites to enroll in the Academic program are:
- Foundational 200-yoga teacher training or equivalent education integrating the following categories: yoga techniques, anatomy and physiology (western and eastern), yoga philosophy, teaching methodology, and practicum hours. A copy of the certificate is required at registration
- Minimum one year of personal practice.
- Minimum 50 hours or one year of teaching experience as yoga/meditation instructor.
Curriculum
The curriculum includes 5 Academic Modules:
- YT, Endocrine and Digestive Health
- YT, Chronic Illness and Palliative Care
- YT, Pain Management and Mental Health
- YT and Musculoskeletal Health
- YT, Neurological and Cardiovascular Health
In addition to the 5 Clinical courses mentioned above, students are required to complete 2 philosophy courses, as determined by enrollment period:
- Yoga Sutra or Bhagavad Gita
- History and Business of Yoga or Upanishads and Professional Development
Curriculum is delivered by certified yoga therapists, medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, and other highly qualified healthcare providers.
Hybrid format includes a combination of in-person classes and online meetings. Class meets one weekend per month, and selected Tuesdays and Thursday evenings.
Tuition
$3,680. Discount and payment plan available. Textbooks are not included in tuition and must be provided by the student.
